Swedish Women’s Educational Association, Inc., New Jersey, SWEA NJ, is part of a global network with 7,000 Swedish speaking women in more than 70 chapters in over 30 countries. SWEA is the largest organization outside Sweden promoting Swedish language, culture and tradition.

The SWEA NJ Scholarship was established to give financial support to studies involving Swedish culture, history, music, visual or performing arts, literature, media, science or the environment. It is thanks to our members’ remarkable volunteer work that this scholarship is possible.

We are thrilled to introduce the 5 recipients of this year’s SWEA NJ Scholarship. These students will receive a combined $6,000 in scholarships, and are expected to write for our newsletter and potentially take part in a speaking engagement in the future at one of our events.

Alexandra Middleton, Princeton University, NJ

For her pilot PhD dissertation fieldwork research on brain-machine-interface at Sahlgrenska and Chalmers in Gothenburg, Sweden.

 

Seema Parikh, New Jersey Institute of Technology, NJ

For her field studies of medical care policies and operation efficiency at hospitals in Sweden, and field research on personal health and views on health care.

 

Anuj Krishnamurthy, Brown University, RI

For his internship at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, SIPRI, in Stockholm, Sweden, with their Global Climate Change and Security project.

For his studies and work on Zorn’s paintings at the Zorn Museum in Mora, Sweden.
