New Jersey
SWEA is a global network of approximately 6,000 Swedish-speaking women in more than 70 chapters across over 30 countries.
Founded in Los Angeles in 1979 by Agneta Nilsson, SWEA is the largest non-profit organization outside Sweden dedicated to promoting Swedish language, culture, and traditions.
SWEA provides a strong personal network and valuable support to Swedish industry around the world. With chapters in numerous locations worldwide, SWEA also plays an important role in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ emergency preparedness plan.
Every year, SWEA awards approximately $250,000 in donations and scholarships, supporting individuals and organizations that promote Swedish language, culture, and traditions.
SWEA New Jersey is part of the OAME (Eastern America) region, which includes eight chapters: Atlanta, Boston, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Virginia Beach, and Washington, D.C.
SWEA offers tips, advice, and support to women who are new to the U.S. and want to learn how things work and get connected. Membership in SWEA provides a strong sense of community with other women who share similar experiences, as well as access to a unique international network of women around the world.
SWEA’s guiding principles are Local Support, Global Friendship, and International Expertise.
SWEA New Jersey has been part of this unique network since 1986. Our activities include walks, lunches, happy hours, cultural events, digital webinars, and much more. We also come together to celebrate Swedish holidays and traditions.
For women who are new to the area, SWEA membership can be an invaluable way to connect with other Swedish women, build friendships, and find a sense of community.
